At 144,000 sq. ft., the four-story Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum has 30 to 35 percent more floor space than the average convention center’s main hall.

If there were only 50 motorcycles and 10 race cars in the building, it would be worth the price of admission for most motorsports enthusiasts.

You’ll enjoy the world’s largest motorcycle collection — about 1,800 two-wheel vehicles — all under one roof. Since 2014, Guinness World Records has recognized it as the world’s largest collection of vintage and contemporary motorcycles. Over 1,000 of the motorcycles are on display at any given time.

How does the museum benefit the community? The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is a 501(c)3 Tax Exempt Private Operating Foundation. The museum partners with local and national charities including the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation ® (PBTF) Birmingham Ride for Kids ® program sponsored by HONDA manufacturing of Alabama; Camp Smile-a-Mile’s Camp SAM Motorcycle Ride; and with the Boy Scouts of America, Birmingham. Further, the museum’s Education Department hosts field trips and summer camps, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) to life through the marvelous world of motorsports. Additionally, the museum generates positive publicity for our region and attracts visitors to Birmingham from across the country and around the world.

It’s open seven days a week. From April 1 to September 30, hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. From October 1 to March 31, it closes at 5 p.m. It’s closed on most major holidays. The museum is sometimes closed for private events. Most of those fall on weekdays. So, check your dates for these types of closures before planning your trip.
